O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
How many people feel like I do? This has been a rough year of pain; sorrow and it is hard to focus of the spirit of the Christmas season. My heart is heavy with so many family members and friends that have passed away this year. My own eyes have been tainted by the fear that surrounds me while we try our best to live in this world with virus still at the door.
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
We watch the news that seems to be a never ending sea of despair of wars, uneasy politics, mass shootings, hate, division, illness, lousy economy, disasters, and list goes on. We have become anger driven more and more.
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
We get bombarded with the commercializing of the season. Do we really need to see Christmas advertising in October, pushing us to go into debt to show how much we love someone, using our own sacred hymns to push products. Hark, the Herald Tribune sings, advertising wonderous things God rest ye merry merchants. May ye make the Yuletide pay Angels we have heard on high Tell us to go out and – buy!
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
I would love to escape the whole, or at least due to a lack of atheism, cancel this season and what it has become.
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
With all the time and schedules, it is hard to find the Babe in the manger and to just STOP and take in the PEACE, LOVE JOY AND HOPE of that which came from heaven to earth for all people on that night in Bethlehem so long ago.
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
I go looking for the Light in the darkness. May they be those that hang on the buildings around me and in the people that shine their light a little brighter than mine as they give of themselves during this time of year when I can’t.
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
Yes, O Come, O Come Emmanuel I need you and I thank you for the strength and wisdom you give, and for putting people in my life to encourage me and showing me through my tainted and sceptic views, that you are still very much the reason of Christmas. That you are the True Light that keeps me going on. Please fill that place within my heart that yearns for you.
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
To all those who seek you this Christmas Season, may the true gifts that we receive, is simply the PEACE, LOVE JOY AND HOPE which truly comes from you, and may we all try to do our best, giving out those same gifts to those around us, the best we can. Not just during this season but always throughout the year. ·
